izumi naoya bassist NAOYA IZUMI : Electric Bass, Wood Bass, Composition & Arrangement, Producing
Born in Osaka(1958), Naoya Izumi grew up in a rich musical environment which had variety of styles such as Rock, R&B, and Jazz. He began playing the bass guitar at 16 and became a professional musician at 20 working as a studio musician and supporting backing band member for artists such as Toshiro Masuda, KAN, Eri Hiramatsu, KOBUKURO, HANA*HANA. His versatile sound and groove mesh with all styles of music making him a sought-after and reliable musician in the music community. Recently his area of work has expanded to producing musical events and artists.

In 1991, he joined the chamber orchestra “BREW-BREW” which had unique instrumentation of string quartet, guitar and bass, directed by Yoshikazu Suo. This group released 4 albums with Naoya’s phenomenal fretless bass sound. He participated in the recording session for the soundtrack of the film “Shall We Dance?” with his fretless bass in 1996. In 2002, he recorded his first solo album “TENDERNESS” which features him on fretless bass and shows a new direction of the bass with its sensationally unique tone color.

Currently he takes part as a supervisor and instructor for the web site “Bass On TV”( http://bass-tv.net/ ) also pursues his passion for teaching at music schools showing the way to younger generations.
